Five fishermen from the Dominican Republic survived for 55 days adrift in the Caribbean Sea after their boat's engine failed. The men, ranging in age from 24 to 60, had set out for a three-day fishing trip but became stranded when their engine broke down near the island of Mona, between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. With limited food, the fishermen rationed their supplies, initially subsisting on a small amount of food. As their provisions dwindled, they resorted to eating raw fish. They collected rainwater to drink, providing their only source of hydration. Throughout their ordeal, the men maintained hope and prayed for rescue. After weeks of drifting, their disabled boat was finally spotted by a passing commercial vessel. The vessel alerted the Colombian Navy, who then dispatched a ship to rescue the stranded fishermen. The rescued men were found to be dehydrated and malnourished. After initial medical evaluations, they were deemed to be in stable condition and transported back to the Dominican Republic to be reunited with their families. The fishermen credited their faith, teamwork, and resourcefulness with their survival. find the original article here: https://www.yahoo.com/news/five-fishermen-survived-55-days-000518478.html
