Socialist Equality Party (SEP) Senate candidates Max Boddy and Warwick Dove participated in the Iron Fist and the Velvet Glove podcast, where they discussed the SEP's perspective on the escalating war dangers and the need for a socialist program to address the issues facing the working class. They emphasized the interconnectedness of domestic and foreign policy, arguing that the same capitalist system driving inequality and austerity measures at home is also responsible for imperialist wars abroad. Boddy and Dove criticized the Labor government's support for US imperialism and its alignment with Washington's military build-up against China. They denounced the government's increasing military spending and its complicity in the AUKUS pact, highlighting the dangers of a potential war in the Indo-Pacific region. The candidates stressed the importance of building a global anti-war movement based on the working class, independent of established political parties and trade unions. They argued that these organizations have become tools of the capitalist state and are incapable of representing the interests of workers. Instead, they advocated for the formation of new, independent rank-and-file committees to fight for workers' rights and oppose war. Boddy and Dove called for a socialist program that includes the nationalization of key industries, the redistribution of wealth, and the establishment of genuine democratic control over the economy and political system. They argued that only through such fundamental changes can the threat of war and the attacks on workers' living standards be effectively addressed. The interview served as a call to action for listeners to join the SEP and fight for a socialist future. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/04/16/waqn-a16.html
