Yemen's Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, have escalated attacks against ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, claiming they are targeting vessels linked to Israel in retaliation for the ongoing war in Gaza. The attacks have significantly disrupted global shipping, forcing major companies to reroute vessels around Africa, increasing costs and transit times. Recently, the Houthis claimed responsibility for targeting the MSC Sky II, the Star Nasia, and the Morning Tide vessels. While the Houthis claim the MSC Sky II was linked to Israel, MSC denies this. The attacks are creating a climate of fear and uncertainty for international shipping companies. The U.S. military has been actively involved in countering the Houthi threat, conducting strikes against missile launchers and other Houthi targets. However, the rebels have vowed to continue their attacks as long as the conflict in Gaza persists. The situation is further complicated by the broader regional tensions and the involvement of Iran, which provides support and weaponry to the Houthis. The instability poses a significant challenge to global trade and maritime security. find the original article here: https://www.yahoo.com/news/iran-backed-yemen-rebels-attacked-183900142.html
