Russia's war in Ukraine has significantly intensified existing social and economic contradictions within Russian society, pushing the Putin regime towards instability. The war has led to increased military spending, straining the state budget and potentially diverting resources from crucial social programs. This economic pressure exacerbates inequality and fuels discontent among the population, particularly those bearing the brunt of the war's economic consequences. Furthermore, the war has resulted in casualties, displacement, and psychological trauma, contributing to a growing sense of unease and resentment. The government's attempts to suppress dissent and control information have further alienated segments of the population, particularly among the youth and intellectual circles. The conflict has also exposed corruption and inefficiency within the military and government, undermining public trust in the regime. Moreover, international sanctions have impacted the Russian economy, limiting access to technology and foreign investment, thus hindering economic growth and deepening social problems. As the war continues, these factors are likely to intensify, further eroding the regime's authority and increasing the risk of social unrest. The long-term consequences of the war will be far-reaching, potentially leading to a period of political and economic instability within Russia. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/04/09/brcf-a09.html
