In June 2024, dashcam footage was released showing the traffic stop that resulted in the death of Timothy Michael Randall at the hands of Sgt. Shane Iversen. The World Socialist Web Site (WSWS) describes the video as depicting a cold-blooded killing. According to the WSWS account, Randall was pulled over for allegedly failing to signal a lane change. The video shows Iversen approaching Randall's vehicle and immediately escalating the situation. Iversen demands Randall exit the vehicle, and Randall expresses fear and reluctance. The WSWS emphasizes that Randall clearly states he is afraid and questions why he is being asked to exit. Iversen continues to escalate the situation, forcibly attempting to remove Randall from the vehicle. The WSWS contends that Randall did not pose a threat to Iversen. As Iversen pulls Randall from the car, the situation quickly turns violent. Iversen tases Randall and then shoots him multiple times. The WSWS article frames the killing as part of a broader pattern of police violence and impunity in the United States. It criticizes the authorities for initially withholding the dashcam footage and downplaying the severity of the incident. The WSWS presents the killing of Timothy Michael Randall as a stark example of state violence against the working class. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/05/04/jxpi-m04.html
