The article argues that the threat of a Trump dictatorship is real and requires a unified response from the working class. However, it criticizes the Democratic Party and trade union bureaucracy for their complicity in creating the conditions that allow Trump's rise. These institutions, the article contends, have suppressed working-class struggles and prioritized their own interests over the needs of the broader population. The article alleges that the Democratic Party, focused on identity politics and appealing to affluent suburban voters, has abandoned the working class, leaving a void that Trump has exploited. Similarly, it accuses union leaders of collaborating with corporations and the government to suppress wages, benefits, and working conditions. This collaboration undermines the ability of unions to defend workers against attacks from both employers and the state. Therefore, the article advocates for a struggle on two fronts: opposing Trump's authoritarian agenda while simultaneously fighting for the independence of the working class from the influence of the Democratic Party and corrupt union officials. The aim is to build a genuinely independent and socialist movement capable of defending the interests of the working class and preventing the consolidation of a right-wing dictatorship. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/03/13/pers-m13.html
