A recent Viking Cruises voyage from Bergen, Norway, to Tilbury, England, experienced a significant norovirus outbreak, affecting 241 passengers and crew members. The Viking Orion ship, carrying 838 people, saw approximately 229 passengers and 12 crew members fall ill with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea consistent with the highly contagious norovirus. Viking Cruises confirmed the outbreak, stating they were taking necessary measures to clean and disinfect the ship, following standard protocols. They also reported working with the UK Health Security Agency to ensure appropriate sanitation and prevent further spread. The ship docked in Tilbury as scheduled. Passengers described a swift and debilitating illness that spread rapidly throughout the ship. While Viking did not publicly disclose the source of the outbreak, health officials believe it's likely due to person-to-person transmission or contaminated food or surfaces. Upon arrival in Tilbury, health officials boarded the ship to assess the situation and provide guidance. Viking offered affected passengers a partial refund and future cruise credit as compensation for the disruption. The Viking Orion underwent thorough cleaning and disinfection before its next scheduled departure. find the original article here: https://www.yahoo.com/news/241-passengers-crew-sickened-norovirus-134407128.html
