Following Ukraine's unsuccessful NATO-backed invasion of Russian territory, a power struggle has erupted within Ukraine's government and ruling elite. The infighting revolves around responsibility for the military and economic failures. Accusations of incompetence and betrayal are rampant, fueled by the immense losses suffered during the offensive. President Zelensky's position is increasingly precarious as various factions maneuver for control. The military leadership is under scrutiny, with figures like General Syrskyi facing criticism for strategic miscalculations. Simultaneously, the political establishment is fractured, with different oligarchic groups vying for influence over reconstruction efforts and international aid. The economic situation further exacerbates the tensions. With the Ukrainian economy heavily reliant on Western support, access to and control over these funds have become a major source of conflict. Accusations of corruption and embezzlement are surfacing, undermining the government's credibility and threatening to alienate international partners. This internal turmoil weakens Ukraine's ability to resist Russian forces and creates an environment of instability that benefits Moscow. The infighting within the Ukrainian state significantly complicates the already dire military and economic situation, raising questions about the long-term viability of the government and the future of the country. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/04/15/hiuq-a15.html
