Argentinian steelworkers at Acindar AceroMittal, facing layoffs and wage cuts, have initiated a strike and are appealing for solidarity from other workers and unions. The workers, facing the suspension of hundreds of colleagues due to the company’s production halt, are demanding the company reverse its decision and protect jobs and wages. They argue that Acindar's actions, influenced by broader economic policies of austerity and devaluation under President Milei, are unacceptable. They are calling for unity among all workers to defend their jobs and oppose the government's anti-worker agenda. The strike has halted production at several Acindar plants. Separately, aircraft refuelers in Seattle are preparing to strike over stalled contract negotiations with Menzies Aviation. The refuelers, represented by Teamsters Local 174, provide critical fuel services at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. They are demanding better wages, improved healthcare benefits, and safer working conditions. The union alleges that Menzies Aviation has not bargained in good faith and has failed to address concerns about worker safety and financial well-being. The planned strike by the refuelers threatens to disrupt air travel at one of the busiest airports in the United States. A work stoppage could cause flight delays and cancellations. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/05/06/jbit-m06.html
