Workers across several countries are engaging in strikes and protests over pay and working conditions. In the UK, national rail strikes continue, reflecting ongoing disputes over wages and working conditions. Italian rail workers staged an eight-hour strike, while French regional railway workers conducted a seven-day strike, both driven by similar grievances. Israeli teachers initiated a wildcat strike after their union accepted pay cuts and called off a planned stoppage, demonstrating rank-and-file discontent with union leadership decisions. In Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory, council workers and teachers are maintaining a walkout, rejecting a pay offer they deem insufficient and below the minimum wage. These instances highlight a global trend of labor unrest, fueled by concerns over inadequate wages, deteriorating working conditions, and dissatisfaction with union representation in some cases. Workers are taking collective action to demand better treatment and fair compensation. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/05/08/nkbn-m08.html
