Supporters of the World Socialist Web Site (WSWS) engaged with participants at the American Physical Society meeting in Minneapolis, focusing on the intersection of science and societal struggles. Conversations highlighted growing concerns among scientists regarding funding cuts, political interference, and the increasing pressure to align research with military or corporate interests. Many scientists expressed disillusionment with the current state of affairs, lamenting the decline of basic research and the prioritization of applied science driven by profit motives. WSWS supporters emphasized the need to connect the defense of scientific integrity with the broader struggles of the working class against social inequality and exploitation. They argued that science, which should be a force for progress and human betterment, is being undermined by capitalism. Discussions also centered on the increasing influence of misinformation and anti-scientific viewpoints, often fueled by right-wing political forces. The WSWS supporters promoted the idea that a socialist transformation of society is essential to ensure that science serves the interests of all humanity and that scientists must actively participate in the fight for a more just and equitable world. They distributed literature and encouraged attendees to engage with the WSWS as a platform for analysis and discussion on these critical issues. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/03/08/lrtj-m08.html
