The Major League Baseball (MLB) Players Association and MLB agreed to lift bans on Pete Rose and other players who were permanently ineligible due to being placed on the permanently ineligible list. The agreement permits these players to be considered for Hall of Fame induction. Pete Rose was banned in 1989 for betting on baseball games while managing the Cincinnati Reds, while others were banned for violations such as drug-related offenses. Previously, being on the permanently ineligible list automatically disqualified players from Hall of Fame consideration. With the change, Rose and other previously banned players will be eligible for consideration, with Rose's eligibility starting in 2028. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/05/16/nmcq-m16.html
