The article from the World Socialist Web Site vehemently condemns various European trade unions and pseudo-left parties for their support of the escalating war drive by the European Union, particularly in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. It accuses these organizations of abandoning the working class by endorsing increased military spending, arms shipments to Ukraine, and other measures that escalate tensions with Russia. The article highlights the unions' acceptance of austerity measures, wage cuts, and other sacrifices demanded of workers to finance the war effort. It argues that these organizations, including the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) and the French General Confederation of Labour (CGT), prioritize the interests of capitalist governments and military-industrial complexes over the needs of their members. The article further criticizes pseudo-left parties, such as Die Linke in Germany and La France Insoumise in France, for their collaboration in promoting the war agenda. It alleges that they use rhetoric about defending democracy and opposing Russian aggression to mask their support for imperialist policies. The article asserts that these organizations are complicit in the suppression of dissent and the promotion of nationalism. Ultimately, the article views the support of these unions and parties for the EU's war policies as a betrayal of the working class and an exposure of their role as tools of capitalist control. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/05/09/zmyq-m09.html
