Sri Lanka: Local Power Shift

The Socialist Equality Party (SEP) is urging working people in specific regions of Sri Lanka, namely Kolonnawa and Karainagar, to cast their votes for SEP candidates in the upcoming local government elections. The party emphasizes that its call for support is limited to these two localities. Outside of Kolonnawa and Karainagar, the SEP is explicitly withholding its endorsement from any other political party or candidate participating in the elections. This signifies a strategic and selective approach to the local elections, focusing its resources and appeals on areas where it believes it has a strong connection with the working class and can effectively advocate for socialist policies. The party's statement makes clear that it does not see any other candidate or party outside of these two areas as representing the interests of the working class. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/05/03/skhs-m03.html
