A recent massacre in Syria, targeting the Alawite minority, has resulted in the deaths of at least 745 civilians. The World Socialist Web Site (WSWS) article attributes the responsibility for this atrocity, at least in part, to NATO powers. The article argues that these powers, through their support and legitimization of the Islamist Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) regime, bear a significant degree of culpability for the violence. The WSWS portrays NATO's actions as contributing to a climate where such massacres are possible and claims their support enables the HTS regime to operate with impunity, thus facilitating the targeting of vulnerable populations like the Alawites. The article focuses on the civilian death toll as evidence of the devastating consequences of NATO's policies in the region and its relationship with Islamist factions. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/03/09/qrim-m09.html
