On the second anniversary of the Tempi train crash in Greece, a global wave of demonstrations took place, with at least 112 protests organized worldwide. The demonstrations were fueled by anger over the lack of accountability for the disaster, which claimed 57 lives, and the perceived cover-up by the Greek government. Protesters demanded justice for the victims and their families, and called for thorough investigations into the causes of the crash. The Tempi rail crash, which occurred on February 28, 2023, involved a passenger train colliding head-on with a freight train. Public outrage intensified following the revelation of systemic failures in the Greek railway system, including outdated infrastructure, inadequate safety measures, and a chronic lack of investment. Leaked audio recordings further implicated government officials in attempting to deflect blame and downplay the severity of the situation. The demonstrations spanned numerous countries and cities, reflecting international solidarity with the Greek people and highlighting the global concern over transportation safety and government accountability. The protests aimed to pressure the Greek government to fully investigate the tragedy, bring those responsible to justice, and implement comprehensive reforms to prevent similar disasters from happening again. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/03/03/ewwq-m03.html
