Bernie Sanders, despite his self-proclaimed socialist identity, is ultimately working to bolster the Democratic Party and suppress genuine socialist movements. He uses leftist rhetoric and demagoguery to appeal to popular anger stemming from Trump's policies, but his true aim is to redirect this discontent back into the Democratic fold. This is achieved by presenting the Democratic Party as a viable alternative to Trump and the Republicans, effectively preventing the development of an independent working-class political force. Sanders' efforts serve to legitimize and rehabilitate the Democratic Party, which is also deeply implicated in the attacks on the working class. He promotes illusions that the Democratic Party can be reformed, despite its history of serving corporate interests and supporting imperialist policies. This pacifies the working class and prevents it from recognizing the necessity of breaking with the established political order. By working within the framework of the Democratic Party, Sanders ultimately reinforces the capitalist system. His proposals for social reforms, while seemingly progressive, are presented as achievable through the existing political institutions, rather than through a fundamental transformation of society. In effect, he acts as a political gatekeeper, diverting socialist sentiment back into the capitalist establishment. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/03/11/fpty-m11.html
