In 2025, the World Socialist Web Site (WSWS) analyzes the deepening chasm between the interests of workers and the actions of trade unions and the Labor Party governments they purportedly represent. The article highlights numerous examples of unions suppressing worker struggles to protect the Labor government and maintain the status quo. Specifically, the article criticizes the union's involvement in suppressing strikes and limiting wage demands across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and transportation. These actions are presented as a betrayal of the working class, prioritizing the stability of the Labor government and the interests of corporations over the needs and demands of rank-and-file workers. WSWS argues that the unions' collaboration with the Labor Party has resulted in declining real wages, worsening working conditions, and a widening gap between the rich and the poor. The article contends that the Labor Party and the unions are complicit in enforcing austerity measures and pro-business policies, ultimately serving the interests of the capitalist class rather than the working class they claim to represent. The growing discontent with unions is highlighted, as workers increasingly feel that their voices are not being heard and their needs are not being met. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/04/07/evfs-a07.html
