In the early hours of Sunday, June 16th, 2024, a mass shooting at a splash pad in Rochester Hills, Michigan, left nine people injured, including two children, an 8-year-old boy and his mother, critically wounded. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Michael Nash, died by suicide after being located at a nearby home following a search. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard stated that the incident appeared to be random, with no known connection between the victims and the shooter. Nash arrived at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad and opened fire with a 9mm Glock handgun, reloading multiple times before fleeing the scene. Authorities recovered the weapon and discovered two additional firearms at the suspect’s home. The victims, ranging in age from 4 to 42, were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
