The Socialist Equality Party (SEP) in Australia is participating in the federal election with the goal of establishing an independent working-class movement. They are explicitly opposing the major political parties, including the Labor Party, the Liberal-National Coalition, and the Greens, as well as the capitalist system itself. The SEP argues that these established parties are incapable of addressing the fundamental issues facing the working class, such as declining living standards, increasing social inequality, and the threat of war. They aim to provide a socialist alternative and mobilize workers around a program that prioritizes their interests. Their electoral campaign focuses on building a political movement rooted in the working class, independent of and in opposition to the existing political establishment. The SEP believes that only a socialist transformation of society can resolve the current crises and ensure a future of peace and social justice. Their candidates are running to provide a voice for this perspective and to encourage workers to fight for a socialist program. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/03/31/ditm-m31.html
