Will Lehman's May Day 2025 speech focused on the escalating attacks on the working class globally and the urgent need for international working-class unity to fight back against capitalism. He described the immense wealth disparity, with billionaires amassing fortunes while workers face declining living standards, rising inflation, and intensified exploitation. Lehman highlighted the role of trade unions in suppressing worker dissent and collaborating with corporations and governments to impose concessions and prevent strikes. He argued that the ongoing conflicts, like the war in Ukraine, are fueled by imperialist ambitions and represent a significant threat to world peace and the working class. Lehman stressed that workers are being forced to bear the brunt of these crises through higher prices, job losses, and the diversion of resources away from social programs. Lehman emphasized the importance of building independent, rank-and-file committees to break free from the control of corrupt unions and establish a united front against capital. He pointed to the growing wave of strikes and protests worldwide as a sign of the growing resistance to these conditions. He called for the development of an international socialist program to address the root causes of inequality, war, and exploitation, and to build a future based on social justice and equality. He urged workers globally to join the International Workers Alliance of Rank-and-File Committees to build this movement. find the original article here: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/05/07/snrq-m07.html
