Following Donald Trump's lead, right-wing allies worldwide are employing increasingly aggressive tactics against their political rivals, mimicking Trump's rhetoric of victimization and claims of persecution. These tactics include questioning election results, attacking the legal system, and portraying themselves as unjustly targeted by a deep state or politically motivated prosecutors. Examples highlighted include Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel, who is attacking the judicial system while facing corruption charges; Viktor Orbán in Hungary, who uses anti-George Soros rhetoric and claims of foreign interference; and Geert Wilders in the Netherlands, who continues to use anti-immigrant and anti-Islam messaging. These leaders, and others like them, are adapting Trump's strategies to their own national contexts, creating a global echo chamber where authoritarian-leaning tactics are normalized and amplified. They often characterize legal scrutiny as politically motivated "witch hunts," fostering distrust in institutions and undermining democratic norms. This coordinated rhetoric serves to galvanize their supporters and deflect accountability. While these leaders don't necessarily coordinate directly, the shared playbook of denying wrongdoing, attacking institutions, and claiming persecution empowers them and contributes to a global decline in democratic values. This trend creates a climate where political opponents are not merely disagreed with, but demonized, potentially leading to political instability and violence. find the original article here: https://www.yahoo.com/news/following-trumps-lead-allies-lash-200050641.html
